Büyükkonuk floats hot air balloon idea

Büyükkonuk Mayor Ahmet Sennaroğlu announced plans last week to bring two hot air balloons from Cappadocia in Turkey for the Sunday, May 7 19th Eco Day Festival.

The mayor, whose municipality twinned with the Turkish village of Kaymaklı in Nevşehir during 2005, returned from a trip to the region on Sunday and is now seeking permits for the project from TRNC authorities. Mr Sennaroğlu said on Wednesday: “We have made an agreement with one of the biggest operators, Kapadokya Kaya Balloons in Nevşehir, and their representatives are coming to the TRNC today.

“Everyone in the village is very positive and excited at the news. We hope to set up the balloons at our Pine View centre as it is high up with good views and a perfect spot.”
